Revista Española de Métrica Comparadahttps://revistas.uned.es/index.php/rhythmica/article/view/44020The articulation of bilabial consonants: rhyme, poetic language and linguistic standard in the Habsburg era2025-01-14T12:43:16+00:00Laura Crespo Quesadarhythmica@us.es
In the fi eld of diachronic Phonetics and Phonology, the time frame that spans the 15th to 17th centuries holds a great interest. The current investigation seeks to enrich the research on the dephonologization of the bilabial phonemes /b/ and /ß/ in Spanish, which is accomplished through an exhaustive analysis of rhymes found in several poetic works of outstanding authors of the Habsburg era. The study of the corpus is structured according to the diachronic and diatopic varieties, and it is organized based on a chronological-geographical division that classifies the authors according to their reigns and their belonging to the northern or southern area of the Iberian Peninsula. The aim is to off er a precise chronology of the expansion and conclusion of the process of neutralization of the bilabial phonemes, a process presumed to have commenced several centuries earlier.
2025-01-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.uned.es/index.php/rhythmica/article/view/44021The influence of hermetic pythagoreanism on «The Black Butterfly» by Nicomedes Pastor Díaz and «The Raven» by Edgar Allan Poe2025-01-14T12:59:01+00:00José Benito Freijanes Martínezrhythmica@us.es
Edgar Allan Poe and Nicomedes Pastor Díaz were strictly contemporaries and their literary works have many common features. The poetry of both is scarce, but in the end it was what gave them the greatest fame in their respective domains. For almost a century and a half, attention has been drawn to the resemblance between two of their most celebrated poems: «The Raven» and «La mariposa negra». In this article we summarize the history of the association between both works and show the results of a comparative metric study taking into account the esoteric tradition that reached Romanticism.
2025-01-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.uned.es/index.php/rhythmica/article/view/44022In spite of political commitment? The metric «of the air» in Blas De Otero’s poetry2025-01-14T13:10:41+00:00Ezequiel Moreno Escamillarhythmica@us.es
Basque poet Blas de Otero (1916-1979) is mainly known for being one of the greatest actors in social poetry. Publications as Pido la paz y la palabra (1955) confi rm a poetic voice who defends ideas of political freedom for a peace-claiming society. However, the progressive breakdown of his metric due to his poetic changes —which lead him to a metric «of the air»—, make us wonder if political commitment can develop in new metric forms, especially during his late poetry.
2025-01-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.uned.es/index.php/rhythmica/article/view/44023Serbian and Spanish poetry of the early 20th century: a comparative metric analysis of three poems by Vladislav Petkovic Dis2025-01-14T13:19:29+00:00Sonja Sevorhythmica@us.esJuan Fraurhythmica@us.es
In this article we will try to find and describe the main features of the versification of the Serbian poet Vladislav Petkovic Dis, through the analysis of three
representative poems of his work and the subsequent comparison with the poems of Spanish poets of the same period and also belonging to the movement of the literary bohemian, such as Manuel Machado and Emilio Carrere.
2025-01-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.uned.es/index.php/rhythmica/article/view/44025Verse and rhyme in Federico García Lorca’s Así que pasen cinco años2025-01-14T13:27:33+00:00María Victoria Utrera Torremocharhythmica@us.es
This work analyzes the meter of Así que pasen cinco años, by Federico García Lorca, focusing especially on the rhythmic and semantic values of the rhyme and on the double and contrast formulations of ditties, songs and romances. The metric procedures have a clear correspondence with the antithetical and/or complementary dualities that characterize the dramatic action and the groups of characters in the work.
2025-01-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025
