Contributions of a supervision team of supervisors in a counseling program in Guatemala: a reflective look

The aim of this article is to share the perspective of supervision from Guatemala, focused on the experience as a supervision team of female supervisors in a training program for psychological counselors at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. A series of questions were applied to which the supervisors responded spontaneously in relation to: What are the contributions of the a supervision team of female supervisors regarding: (a) best practices, (b) self-care of a supervision team of female supervisors (c) identified limits, (d) mentoring. The narrative analysis described two moments: (a) the construction of the Master's program in Psychological Counseling and Mental Health and parallelly the beginning and evolution of supervision within the framework of the program and (b) the reflected contributions of the supervision team of female supervisors. Findings describe central themes of the lived experiences during the development of supervision in Guatemala, within the master's level program in Counseling Psychology and Mental Health. Recommendations are offered on the basis of the supervision team´s narratives.
