Terapia de la adicción a internet y vídeo-juegos en niños y adolescentes.

En este artículo se revisan los criterios diagnósticos para la adicción a Internet y video-juegos con respecto a su aplicación en niños y adolescentes. Se discuten los principales instrumentos de evaluación existentes hasta el momento, así como los factores de riesgo asociados. Los autores defienden la necesidad de intervenciones preventivas precoces, así como de tratamientos integrados para este tipo de trastornos. Estos tratamientos se deben focalizar no sólo en la adicción, sino también en los trastornos comórbidos, muy frecuentes en la población infanto-juvenil adicta a Internet y video-juegos. Se insiste también en que el tratamiento debe ser individualizado, adaptado a cada caso, flexible y multimodal; dirigido en lo posible a conseguir un uso controlado de las aplicaciones de Internet, los video-juegos, así como otras tecnologías necesarias para adaptarse hoy en día a la vida cotidiana.
