The constructivistic psychoterapist explores with his/her client the emotionally disturbed episodes which are at the origen of the demand. The «evolutive psychopathology» allows to go from a descriptive optic of diagnostic to an explanatory one,. The therapeutic work refers to the significations attributed by the patient to the sensations felt at different moments of his/her development and that are emotionally loaded. The therapist leads the client to identify the sensations that were previously considered as inexplicble and to integrate them into coherence of his/her identity. Such symptoms are often attributed to an external cause -somatic illness, life events, etc. The therapy brings therefore the possibility to widen the knowledge of the self.
