Abstract

This study aimed the development and validation of a scale on beliefs, prejudice and commitment with egalitarian goals. The scale answered questions such as: a) whether racism and sexism share similar processes, b) the relationship between the components of attitudes and, c) the prediction of behavior from beliefs and prejudice. The instrument took into account proposals from theories that have provided new horizons in the study of discrimination and prejudice, as female identity models and contributions from Moskowitz on chronic egalitarian goals. Statistical analyzes resulted in a final 30-item scale called Scale of Prejudice and Egalitarian Goals, consisting of three factors that that set the level of prejudice, the awareness of group inequalities and the degree of commitment in the fight for equality.
