The right to housing progressively affects the content of the right to real estate property. This article reviews the historical evolution of both rights until reaching their current configuration. It also checks the main techniques developed by the Spanish law dealing with housing as a social function of property and the discussions they have raised. And it finally concludes with a reflection on the essential content of the property, as a constitutional limit to the limits set by the legislator, that focuses on profitability.
