The present work tries to approach the poetic authors in Galician and Spanish between 1939 (the year in which the Civil War ended and the Franco dictatorship began) and 1980 (the year in which Álvaro Cunqueiro, already in democracy, published his poetic work Herba aquí ou acolá) through the work of three poets in Galician: Luis Pimentel, Celso Emilio Ferreiro and Álvaro Cunqueiro. With his works I tried to connect with the three main literary movements in Hispanic literature during those years: existentialism, social literature and the “novísimos” culturalism. After a brief study of the work of each author, I relate it to other non-Galician poets who published their work mainly in Spanish.
