Abstract

This brief note deals with a previously unknown broken bas-relief with inscription, its singularity resides in being the only reliable iconographic evidence of an unusual fighting couple: myrmillo and provocator. Additionally a small fragment now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien seem to be a missing part of the piece and discloses its provenance and dating.
