En este artículo se presenta una síntesis de Eric Berne y Fritz Perls, creadores del Análisis Transaccional y de la Terapia Gestalt, respectivamente, así como de sus aportaciones más importantes a la Psicología y a la Psicoterapia. Algunas de las aportaciones del Análisis Transaccional son la posibilidad de ofrecer un modelo sistemático de la teoría de la personalidad a través de conceptos sencillos y prácticos, como los estados del ego o los guiones de vida y la voluntad de integrar teórica y metodológicamente los aspectos intrapsíquicos e interpersonales.Por su parte, las aportaciones más importantes de Perls son su concepción holística, constructivista y sistémica de la realidad, su visión del ser humano como un organismo psicofísico interdependiente con el ambiente, la creación de una terapia procesual que trabaja con el modo cómo el paciente contacta con el ambiente en la sesión terapéutica a fin de obtener la satisfacción de sus necesidades, y una metodología psicoterapéutica que anima al paciente a responsabilizarse de su propia vida.
