Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe the forms of participation of women in the Sembrando Vida Program in the community of Nuevo San Miguel, Ahome Sinaloa. The methodological process consisted of a qualitative approach from the technique of discussion groups where 15 women participated who are part of the Sembrando Vida Program in the Community of Nuevo San Miguel de Ahome, Sinaloa. The category of social participation was analyzed through the dimensions of involvement, commintment, cooperation, decision making and social awareness. The results  showed that women are involved to improve their vulnerable situation; the program represents a network of mutual support between women and they actively commit to the program, strengtening their leadership in the decision-making process, establishing identity and a sense of belonging. Their participation is conditioned by their gender status since they have to reconcile their domestic activities, child care, informal jobs and work in the social program.
