Abstract

The evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a psychological maltreatment case treated at the Applied Psychology Service of Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) are described. The maltreatment facts caused severe depressive and anxious symptoms to the victim, as well as severe intrusive thoughts. This symptomatology became more activated when the patient noticed her husband's infidelity. Difficulties to realise it was a psychological maltreatment case and the aggressor tricks to avoid the victim receives therapy are discussed.
