This review aims to synthesize psychological interventions for adults with functional/dissociative seizures (FDS) and their main outcomes. FDS are involuntary and abrupt events that disrupt normal functioning, characterized by reduced self-control and motor, sensory, and mental manifestations. Psychotherapy is its first-line treatment. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines across Cochrane, PubMed, SciELO, Lilacs, Dialnet, and Science databases. Thirty-four articles (2010-2024) were selected. A variety of psychotherapeutic approaches were highlighted, predominantly cognitive-behavioral interventions, although psychodynamic and eclectic models were also used. The results indicate benefits in reducing seizure frequency in most studies. However, there are limitations in the evidence due to the heterogeneity of other outcome measures. The study of psychological interventions for FDS is in its early stages, but numerous models have proven effective, providing useful clinical tools.
