Abstract

TER + past participle constructions have always been considered as verbal clusters in Galician, though not in Portuguese. In this paper, we will deal with three types of TER + past participle constructions, so that certain concepts such as modal and auxiliary verbs are rethought. Besides, the main differences of TER + past participle between Galician and Portuguese are shown. We will also describe the three main uses of TER constructions: lexical, modal and periphrastic.
