This work address the study of Felipe Ramón Cordero Carrete (1894-1988), an important reference of Galician culture, professor and intellectual who was linked to institutions such as the Seminar of Galician Studies (SEG), the Student Residence of the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Editorial Bibliófilos Galegos, and the Padre Sarmiento Institute of Galician Studies (IEGPS), center to which it was actively linked since its foundation, for more than 40 years. However, F.R. Cordero is one of those personalities within the field of culture who, despite having carried out significant work and having occupied a relevant position, has been subsequently forgotten for several reasons, or has unfairly gone quite unnoticed. This work aims to carry out a biographical reconstruction of F.R. Cordero’s from which to open a reflection on his entire legacy, with the aim that it can be revalued and placed in its rightful place. F.R. Cordero was a person who was fully integrated into a generation of intellectuals who put all their efforts to promote, modernize and energize Galician culture. He was an apolitical and generous figure, who developed his work without reservations and selflessly.
