La mayoría de las veces que se habla del abuso sexual se mencionan solamente a las víctimas y a los abusadores. Sin embargo, poco se habla de los terceros, de aquellos que encubrieron, no dijeron nada cuando vieron algo sospechoso o que simplemente fueron negligentes y no cumplieron con su labor de vigilar a las personas vulnerables para que no fueran abusadas. Por otro lado, tampoco se suele hablar de las víctimas secundarias, que son las familias, miembros de las parroquias, comunidades religiosas, instituciones educativas donde se encontraba la víctima, pues aunque la herida más grande la tiene la víctima del abuso, las víctimas secundarias pueden ser heridas muy gravemente a nivel físico, pero también psicológica y espiritualmente, en la confianza hacia las demás personas o hacia la institución donde ocurrió el abuso; las víctimas secundarias también son supervivientes del abuso sexual. Pues bien, en este libro, para abordar de manera integral la sanación psico-espiritual de los supervivientes, Luis Alfonso Zamorano busca incluir también los terceros y las víctimas secundarias. Además, brinda una mirada muy completa de lo que es el abuso sexual de niños, niñas y adolescentes, con un enfoque particular en la situación de la Iglesia Católica.
