Abstract

This article presents a group analytical approach within the family context, with special interest given to its application in adolescent issues. Family, group, and cultural influences are explored in the development of the individual’s identity and, in the case of developmental complications, the emergence of psychopathology. Implications for diagnosis and treatment are dicussed in the light of the paper’s theoretical position, and a case study is provided in which clinical considerations are highlighted.
