In this paper I propose some reflections on musical aesthetics and the ways of creating and appreciating musical works from a philosophical-aesthetic point of view. In order to do so, I present the different categories and values that are deployed in the artistic experience and in the process of musical creation, with the aim of understanding how we perceive and approach music and how music has been conceived and conceptualised throughout history by different thinkers. Finally, all of the above will serve to address the question of musical emotionality and the beauty of music as art.
