Abstract

This study analyzes the curricula of the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with respect to immigration in public universities in Andalusia. Its importance lies in understanding the subjects related to migration in a region with a high presence of migrant population. A qualitative approach based on documentation was used to examine the subjects of the degree. The results reveal large differences between universities, highlighting the scarcity of subjects dealing directly with migration, the predominance of electives over compulsory subjects, and institutions with few subjects on the migration phenomenon. It concludes that the number and structure of subjects on migration are deficient, focusing mainly on theoretical rather than practical aspects. Practical learning is limited to class work and presentations, which restricts the understanding of migration phenomena and the students’ ability to intervene socially in their future professional careers.
