Abstract

Excessive use of screen devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers, has multiple negative impacts. In terms of physical health, it has been linked to issues like neck and back pain due to poor posture, visual fatigue, and sleep problems caused by the blue light emitted by screens. Additionally, sedentary screen time can increase the risk of obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Regarding mental health, excessive use of screen devices is associated with a higher risk of anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, especially in adolescents and young people, and can lead to addictive behaviors. Socialization is also negatively affected, as screen time can replace face-to-face interactions and diminish interpersonal communication skills, leading to a sense of isolation. Educational performance is impacted, contributing to language impoverishment.
