The context of the study is the two existing day centers in the city, one under the direct care and management of the MIES and the other under the agreement modality managed by the prefecture of Loja. The motivation of this study was to know the empowerment of the families and caregivers of users of these two centers, their perception of the service received and how it generates or does not generate well-being for the users.

The research design was non-experimental, descriptive and quantitative and the FES scale (Koen, DeChilo and Fieson 1992) was used. The sample included 91 families of people with disabilities from the two Day Centers. The results obtained showed significant differences between the level of empowerment of families depending on the type of center, a higher level of empowerment was observed in the direct care center, with a more efficient level of social, labor, and sports inclusion. In conclusion, the greater the empowerment of families and caregivers of people with disabilities, the more effective their inclusion at all social levels.
