Abstract

The objective of this article is to make visible the different health situations presented by the homeless in the city of Barcelona. From the narrative of the people themselves you can see how they perceive their health, as well as the differences in relation to gender and their processes of social disaffiliation. The research was carried out with 12 informants (men and women who were going through various processes of residential exclusion). 8 stories have been selected because they are more significant in relation to health issues. The main conclusion is that the early presence of difficulties in social and family environments, as well as the sum of traumatic events along their life trajectories, increase the risk of suffering a deterioration of physical and mental health in adult stages that involves situations of homelessness.
