Abstract

This study explores the moderating role of group identification in the relationship between organizational justice and employees' emotional exhaustion, according to the Uncertainty management model (Van den Bos, 2001; Van den Bos & Lind, 2002). The hypotheses have been tested through a questionnaire study in a sample of employees (N = 494) who belong to 99 work groups. Data analyses demonstrat that group identification has a moderating role in the relationship between organizational justice and emotional exhaustion. Moreover, differences regarding organization type (public or private) have also been found. Results are discussed as far as their theoretical and practical implications are concerned.
