Gender violence: treatment of a case study of generalized anxiety disorder

The purpose of this article is to present a clinical case study about generalized anxiety disorder, mainly related to the abuse suffered due to her former partner and the anxiety caused by the separation. Once the domestic violence is reported, the patient is unable to perform the separation definitely and presents a generalized anxiety disorder, suffers from panic attacks and lack of impulse control, expressed as anger attacks. Cognitive distortions are detected and many core ideas related to misinterpretation of the couple-life, as well as a high fear to live without a stronger figure. Among the objectives is the fear to the trial and coping with situations including anxiogenic, generalized anxiety, and improving social skills.
