Hypnosis is a valuable clinical intervention in the treatment of a wide variety of psychological and medical problems, helping to improve the quality of life for many patients. The purpose of this study was to document the therapeutical value and efficacy of metaphorical language in hypnotic suggestion to treat joint pain in a patient diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis for thirty-five years. The therapeutic process was spaced over seven weekly sessions. After treatment we observed a significant reduction in pain, result that was maintained during follow-up. Additionally, levels of anxiety and depression also saw a clinically significant decrease.Downloads
