Abstract

The ECN2 is easily confused by the automobile as a common quality inspection post due to their similarities of main activity, inspection of automotive parts suspected of nonconformity. There is a lack of publications on ECN2, making knowledge weak, biased and underestimating its importance. The objective of this research is to carry out a literature review and documentary research in a real company through a case study, with a qualitative approach. The results demonstrate that ECN2, when properly applied, contributes to reducing opportunity costs, minimizes nonconformities and acts against Recall's growth in Brazil. This study was carried out in a company that provided ECN2 services in automotive transmission parts for 12 months, resulting in the rejection of 115 pcs of the most diverse problems, such as cracking, breaking of parts, striking in rectified area and porosity. It is concluded that the ECN2 has strong characteristics that differ from a simple quality inspection station. The ECN2 studied prevented the assembly of 115 cars with potential problems, which could have generated Recall, negatively impacted the image of the automaker
