The aim of this paper is to give an account of a digital experience carried out some years ago in the field of critical edition of a comedy by Lope de Vega, while proposing a brief balance of this specific activity within Digital Humanities. It also indicates possible developments and critical issues that remain to be resolved, with special attention to the portrayal of the writing process in a genetic-evolutionary perspective.
