A Failed Translation into Spanish of The Roman Revolution in the 1960’s. The Intrahistory of an Unknown Episode

In 1962, at the very beginning of the years of «desarrollismo» in our country, at that time immersed in the Franco regime, a small and almost unknown publishing house based in Madrid, «Norte y Sur», considered the possibility of translating into Spanish Ronald Syme’s The Roman Revolution, almost thirty years before Taurus publishing house finally got it. The project by «Norte y Sur» was not finally completed. It is, however, an episode as interesting as little known in the historiography of ancient history in Spain.
