Las esmeraldas en las fuentes literarias clásicas: una breve aproximación

Las esmeraldas fueron una de las piedras preciosas más apreciadas de la Antigüedad. Por ello, podemos encontrar diversas referencias sobre estas en las fuentes literarias clásicas. En este trabajo haremos una aproximación a estas menciones con el objetivo de determinar qué nos pueden decir sobre la extracción y comercialización de este mineral, especialmente en la principal área de obtención situada en la región denominada tradicionalmente como mons Smaragdus, en el Desierto Arábigo egipcio.
