Las errancias de Dorian: huellas de «The Wanderings of Oisin» en «The Picture of Dorian Gray»

En 1890 Oscar Wilde publicó en Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine su única novela, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Más allá de las connotaciones homoeróticas y políticas subyacentes en el texto, la historia de Oisín, el héroe de la mitología gaélica que envejece y muere al poner un pie en suelo irlandés tras tres siglos en la Tierra de la Juventud, parece una clara fuente de inspiración. Partiendo de la publicación de Irish Fairy Tales (1888) y The Wanderings of Oisin and Other Poems (1889) de W. B. Yeats, así como de la relación personal entre ambos autores irlandeses, este trabajo explora la influencia del poema «The Wanderings of Oisin» [«Las errancias de Oisin»] sobre The Picture of Dorian Gray [El retrato de Dorian Gray] en tres aspectos: el hedonismo y la atemporalidad, la lucha por el alma y la muerte del protagonista.
