In the following pages I would like to introduce a brief analysis about the study of the cogito by Bergson, and that by Merleau-Ponty; their contributions have shed light on the successive detachment of thought and body on which the history of philosophy has been operating. This analysis will cause philosophers to think about the necessity to abandon the inherited dualism between mind and body. Perception is the channel that joins body and spirit in one dimension only; consciousness, far from breaking down into concepts, is continually renewed thanks to our corporeality.
