The codex known as The Archimedes Palimpsest was purchased, restored, and completely transliterated using digital techniques in 2011. This article is intended to give a general portrait of this unique document, as well as some critic stances upon the same. In order to do so, there will be dealt first with the palimpsest as a cultural feature, bringing up the main reasons for such a cultural phenomenon throughout the Middle Ages. Secondly, the details on the composition will be addressed, afterwards the attention will be shifted to Aristotle´s Categories. Finally, and by way of Critical Comparison, it will be attempted to shed some light upon the possible sources and the alleged author of the reported document according to dominant statements hitherto. Ensuing all this, few words recalling the parallelisms between what occurred to the commentary and some of the most noticeable issues nowadays will be finally put forward.Downloads
