This article analyzes the current pertinence of La España posible en tiempo de Carlos III. I consider Julian Marias’ view of the Spanish eighteenth century to be an indirect narrative about his own historic time. To find out a possible Spain for the future was his real target. Having said that, we are now clearly aware that this future is our present; our target is the same: finding a possible Spain. Just like Marias’ work, this paper suggests that the eighteenth century in Spain can guide us in the hope of building our political present.Downloads
