Abstract

Our object of study is the application in Andalusia of rents guarantee programs, since the appearance of the first, known as Ingreso Mínimo de Solidaridad (Solidarity Minimum
Income), to nowadays. They are a kind of action included within the policies for the eradication of marginality and inequality and in benefit of family units. They are incomes conditioned to the performance to some activities of effort for the own social inclusion by the beneficiaries.
In this article we try to explore the history and current reality of rents guarantee programs within their application in Andalusia trough the analysis of the historical context and the tendencies on inequality which gave place to and justified this intervention programs,
plus the profiles of their beneficiaries. We try as well to give a first approach to evaluating the extent those programs have achieved or are achieving their manifested objectives.
That means, we try to find out how much they contribute to the effective eradication of marginality and inequality in Andalusia.
