About coping and chronic disease: a reflection with some suggestions

Abstract

Lazarus´ theory of coping represents the most frequent cited in contemporary psychology in spite of some problems and difficulties found in such model. This work is directed to point some of such difficulties related to situationism and traits theory, emotional or ability status of coping and the dichotomy process-result. Data and theory are offered in support of a new analysis, inspired in the parameter´s model of personality.
