Abstract

This work specifically addresses the mathema tical modeling of surface roughness (Ra, Rt) and the life of tool in the process of turning ABNT 52100 hard ened steel (50 HRC). A tool mixed with ceramic wiper (wiper) geometry was used. Mathematical models were obtained by the response surface methodology (RSM), having as variables influence the cutting speed parameters, cu tting feed and depth of cut. In this case, taking in- to account the simultaneous variation of factors, one can construct mathem atical models of forecasting and op- timization to the responses of interest . This statistical nature approach is to design experiments capable of gen- erating appropriate data for effective analys is, resulting in valid and objective conclusions.
