A change in a state's political regime always comes with a bunch of big changes in how the new political system is presented to the public, which directly affects ceremonies, protocol, and how events are organized and run, since these events are a key way to legitimize and proclaim the new regime. The month of June 1869 stands out for the organization and execution of various events on political initiative that are of necessary and timely historical significance for those who were protagonists of the change in the state system resulting from the so-called Glorious Revolution that took place in September 1868 and led to the fall of the Bourbon monarchy, the subsequent exile of Isabella II, and the formation of the so-called Provisional Government, ushering in the Democratic Six-Year Period. As a result, a series of acts and events were carried out, some of which were the result of the regulatory structure of the new regime, such as the constitution of the Constituent Cortes, the appointment of the Provisional Government, the promulgation and swearing in of the Constitution of 1869, and the swearing in of the Executive Power. Other events with a significant public impact also took place, such as the inauguration of the National Pantheon and the unveiling of the statue of Mendizábal. This research analyzes the swearing-in ceremony of General Serrano as regent of the kingdom on June 18, 1869.
