Abstract

García Montero’s poetry has generated a lot of studies, above all, from the perspective of intertextuality. However, the skillfully way he uses the classic forms hasn’t received all the attention it deserves. His book Rimado de ciudad, whose texts include his poetic work of more tan thirty years (1981-2015), is characterised by the use of the classic meters, which I analyse: sonnets, “décimas”, tercets, Manrique’s strophes, couplets, liras and so on. It is shocking that this aspect hasn’t obtained a specifi c study, even though metrics are a necessary framework in the intertextuality interpretation. In this paper I intend to analyse Rimado de ciudad from a metric perspective.
