El «viejo» liberalismo de J. S. Mill en la concepción liberal de Ortega y Gasset

Este artículo trata de profundizar en el sentido de la crítica de Ortega y Gasset a las ideas de lo que él mismo llamó «viejo liberalismo» del siglo XIX. Nos centraremos fundamentalmente en sus objeciones al carácter «colectivista» de este liberalismo y a su «progresismo». Tomaremos para ello a Mill como representante de este estilo de pensamiento y trataremos de identificar en sus escritos muestras de lo que Ortega critica. Con esto intentaremos sacar conclusiones sobre la necesidad de una reforma del liberalismo tal como la plantea Ortega y sus implicaciones para la sociedad europea, en la que el problema del conflicto de las libertades individuales y sus límites sigue teniendo una actualidad indiscutible.Downloads
