Abstract

Based on (1) the controversy over the subject of Education for Citizenship and Human Rights, in this paper I intend to (2) clarify the use of terms related to the political principle of laïcité and explain Taylor’s theory of laïcité, which includes (3) a new definition of laïcité and (4) the separation between constitutive principles and institutional arrangements, in order to think about (5) the true meaning of educating in laïcité
