Objective: To examine the clinical utility of group therapy based on Barlow's Unified Protocol (UP) in addressing difficulties in emotional regulation, experiential avoidance, and anxiety symptoms. Method: A total of 55 patients (ages 18-65, Mage = 48) participated in an 8-session, in-person group program emphasizing mindfulness strategies at the Mental Health Center (CSM) of Villalba Hospital (Madrid). Results: Significant reductions in anxiety symptoms and difficulties in emotional regulation were observed between pre- and post-treatment. No significant changes were found in experiential avoidance. However, a preliminary analysis indicated a relationship between reductions in experiential avoidance, improvements in emotional regulation, and a decrease in anxiety symptoms. Conclusions: The results support further research into these group treatment for patients with emotional difficulties within the Spanish public mental health system.Downloads
