Uso de servicios de atención psicológica en jóvenes del sistema de protección y justicia juvenil: Un estudio exploratorio

Resumen

Use of psychological care services in young people from the juvenile justice and protection system: An exploratory study

Abstract: The objective was to identify the factors associated (i.e., demographic and clinical) with the use of mental health services in adolescents involved in the juvenile protection and justice system in Catalonia, Spain. The sample consisted of 227 adolescents, aged 12 to 17 years. Apart from gathering sociodemographic and treatment information the Youth Self Report was administered to assess psychopathological symptoms. The results showed that 54.2% of participants indicated that they were receiving psychological care. The regression analysis indicated that being younger, being involved in the protection system and presenting higher levels of transgressive behaviors predicted greater use of mental health services. There was no association with any of the internalizing problems. Since referral is the initial step towards using the mental health service, it is important that professionals receive the necessary training to carefully assess the young people under their care and refer them to the correspondent health services.

Resumen: El objetivo fue identificar los factores asociados (i.e, demográficos y clínicos) con el uso de servicios de atención psicológica en adolescentes atendidos por el sistema de protección y justicia juvenil en Cataluña, España. Participaron 227 adolescentes, de 12 a 17 años. Además de obtener datos sociodemográficos y sobre la atención psicológica, se administró el Youth Self Report para evaluar la sintomatología psicopatológica. Un 54.2 % de los adolescentes indicó estar recibiendo atención psicológica. El análisis de regresión indicó que ser más joven, estar en el sistema de protección y presentar niveles superiores de conductas trasgresoras predijeron un mayor uso de servicios de atención psicológica. No hubo asociación con ninguno de los problemas de internalización. Dado que la derivación es el paso inicial para la utilización del servicio de salud mental, es importante que los trabajadores reciban la capacitación necesaria para evaluar cuidadosamente y derivar a los jóvenes bajo su cuidado a los servicios de salud necesarios.

Licenciada en Psicología y Psicóloga, Universidad de las Américas (Chile), Posgrado de especialización en “Interpretación Clínica en Pruebas de Cat, Ro, Tro y Wisc en Niños y Adolescentes” Universidad de Concepción (Chile).Magíster en Psicología, Mención Clínica Infantojuvenil, Universidad de Chile y Diploma en Gestión de Políticas Sociales, Universidad de Concepción. 

Actualmente es profesora colaboradora del Grado de Criminología de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya y tutora de estudiantes de posgrado en la Universidad Internacional de Valencia. 

En el ámbito científico,es Investigadora Asociada en el Grupo de Investigación en Victimización Infantil y Adolescente (GReVIA) de la Universidadde Barcelona, anteriormente realizó su investigación de Tesis Doctoral en dicho grupo. Se destacan sus recientes publicaciones en el ámbito de la victimología del desarrollo y conducta suicida juvenilen revistas de impacto internacional. Como Co-investigadora ha participado en la elaboración de informes y guías para organismos como la Federación de Asociaciones para la Prevención del Maltrato Infantil (FAPMI) y Save the Children España.  Ha participado en ponencias orales y posters en congresos y seminarios, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.

Sus principales líneas de investigación abarcan temáticas como: trabajo infantil, calidad de vida relacionada con la salud, victimización, polivictimización, depresión y conducta suicida. 

Como profesional cuenta con amplia experiencia clínica en la atención de pacientes con diversas patologías de salud mental en población infantojuvenil. Cuenta con experiencia en coordinación de proyectos gubernamentales de intervención psicosocial con poblaciones de alta vulnerabilidad social, entre los que se destacan haber sido Coordinadora Provincial de Promoción y Protección Social de la Gobernación de Copiapó. 

Noemí Pereda Beltrán, Grup de Recerca en Victimització Infantil i Adolescent (GReVIA), Universidad de Barcelona, & Institut de Neurociències, Barcelona, España

Licenciada en Psicología por la Universidad de Barcelona en 1999 y Doctora en Psicología por la misma Universidad en 2006. Se ha especializado en la temática de la infancia en riesgo, destacando los malos tratos y el abuso sexual infantil. Ha publicado varios artículos y capítulos de libro sobre esta área de estudio. Asimismo, ha presentado ponencias y comunicaciones en diferentes congresos y reuniones científicas, tanto nacionales como internacionales. Actualmente, trabaja como profesora en la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Barcelona. Imparte docencia en los estudios de grado de Psicología y Criminología, así como en postgrados y masters de varias universidades. Colabora, asimismo, en tareas de formación, dentro su temática de estudio, en diferentes colegios profesionales, ayuntamientos y otras instituciones oficiales. Dirige el Grupo de Investigación en Victimización Infantil y Adolescente (GReVIA) de la Universidad de Barcelona desde 2009.

Licenciada y Doctora en Psicología por la Universitat de Barcelona en los años 2002 y 2009, respectivamente. 

Catedrática de Psicometría en la Universitat de Barcelona impartiendo docencia en el Grado de Psicología.

Actualmente compagina, por un lado, la docencia en el grado de Psicología y en másters de esta misma universidad impartiendo asignaturas relacionadas con la Psicometría y, por otra parte, la investigación en la elaboración y adaptación de instrumentos de medida psicológica , las técnicas bibliométricas y meta-analíticas, y su aplicación en el ámbito de la esquizofrenia y cognición, y la victimología del desarrollo. Su aportación en estos ámbitos de conocimiento ha culminado con la presentación de numerosas comunicaciones orales y pósters en congresos especializados y la publicación de varios artículos en revistas científicas de reconocido prestigio internacional. Pertenece al Grupo de Estudios de Invariancia de la Medición y Análisis del Cambio (GEIMAC) desde 2002, el Grupo de Investigación en Victimización Infantil y Adolescente (Grever) desde 2009 y en el Instituto de Investigación en Cerebro, Cognición y Conducta (IR3C) desde 2011.
