Abstract

This document shows the development and results achieved by a device which was made and calibrated for measuring particle size distribution of micrometer-sized order, using for this standard components through sedimentary gravity which allow their use for the medium and small industry in developing countries to increase their competitiveness. The device calibration was made using standard techniques, through suspensions on the basis of calibrated glass spheres in water. The values given by the developed device are compared with those obtained by conventional methods such as laser spectroscopy, image analysis and analytical centrifugation. The results of measurements showed that the device is accurate in determining the size distribution of micro-systems particles.
