Abstract

In this work a macro developed in "Visual Studio" for virtually modeling a pair of rotary-helical transmission gears, is presented. In this transmission pair, the rotation of the driving element produces a certain helical movement (combination of rotation and translation) on the driven element. An interface has also been developed where the inputs are the kinematic parameters of the said transmission pair, namely, the angular velocity of the driving rotation, the linear and angular velocities of the driven helical movement, and the distance (or angle) between the corresponding axes. This macro is very helpful in generating the pair of gears for a required rotary-helical transmission, and will allow us to develop future parametric sensitivity analysis.
