Copyright in the digital era faces unprecedented challenges, especially due to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence
(AI). AI, being able to generate content, raises challenges about the actual originality of its works, which can violate intellectual property, since neural networks operate with data that often includes copyrighted material. Additionally, AI can be used to introduce bias or erroneous information into the population. Another field where new technologies pose challenges is cybersecurity, since attackers can acquire data from users of search engines and social networks. A series of solutions have been offered from national, community and international law, with a balanced approach that protects intellectual property and privacy, but at the same time we have to take advantage of the potential of AI for progress as a tool of the so-called fourth industrial revolution.
