Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The text meets the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined above in the Instructions for Authors. Problems arising from incorrect compliance of these rules that might delay the publication of the issue, could result in the postponement of the article to the next edition issue.

  • Submitted files are in the document file formats outlined in the Instructions for Authors. Problems arising from incorrect compliance of these rules that might delay the publication of the issue, could result in the postponement of the article to the next edition issue.

  • If submitting a manuscript to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, check that the PDF (evaluation) file follows the instructions availables in Ensuring a blind review by experts.

  • The "original file" version of the manuscript includes in the acknowledgements the source of funding for the published articles, as well as the project code of the project in the framework of which the research is carried out, if applicable.
  • The manuscript has been written according to the recommendations available in the section Editorial Policies on Gender Equality.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

Author Guidelines

It is necessary first to register, and then log in (to the on-line submissions section) in order to submit articles and check submission status. During the platform registration process, authors must include all their details: name and surname(s), email address, institution to which they belong, short biography, and, highly recommendable, the ORCID

Articles will be submitted strictly in accordance with the instructions laid out in this author guidelines section, bearing in mind the need to include all the files detailed in points 1 and 2, and to ensure that submissions comply with the journal’s standards. It is therefore necessary carefully to revise the header data and length, headings, figures and tables, style and, in particular, bibliography (with style of bibliographic citations) sections.

Manuscripts that do not fully comply with these guidelines, including rules for and sequencing of bibliographic citations, will be returned to authors.

1. For review:

-File in pdf format (“review”), WITHOUT any reference to the author’s or authors’ identity, email or affiliation within the text. This file must contain the title of the work in its original language and its English translation, the abstract, the keywords (see points 2 and 3 of the section Header data and length), the complete text, illustrations, tables and graphs in the appropriate place in the text, along with the corresponding captions, and the bibliography. This file will be sent to external reviewers for evaluation; therefore, authors should carefully read and follow the norms set out for this file in peer review and in guaranteeing an anonymous peer review.

The pdf. file is attached in step 2 of the article submission process (“Upload submission”).

2. For possible publication:

-File (“original”) with the article edited in a word processor (doc., docx., odt., rtf.) in accordance with the rules indicated below in the sections: Header data and length; Headings; Figures and tables; Style; and Bibliography. This "original" file should never include illustrations, tables or graphs, but only indicate their position in the text.

-File with full information about the author, including the institution to which they belong and their position therein, contact details and title of the work submitted, and ORCID.

-File with illustrations, tables and graphs (see the section Figures and tables).

-File with numbers and captions for illustrations, tables and graphs.

These files must be uploaded in Step 2 of the article submission process ("Add another file").

When an article is submitted to ETFV, all the files indicated in points 1 and 2 must be uploaded.

EDITING RULES FOR THE "ORIGINAL" FILE:

Header information and length

  • The first page of the manuscript must include the title of the work in its original language and its translation into English. Followed by the author’s name, with a footnote indicating the institution to which they belong, the email and ORCID.
  • Included next will be an abstract of the work in Spanish, along with a corresponding version in English, no longer than 1,000 characters including spaces. The abstract should include the objectives, methodology, results and conclusions obtained.
  • Keywords should also be included, in both languages, separated by a semi-colon (;), permitting indexing of the work in scientific databases. A minimum of four, a maximum of eight.
  • At the end of the abstract or the beginning of the text, a note can be included expressing gratitude and inspiration to the institutions or projects that financed the work in question.
  • If the language of the original text was neither Spanish nor English, the title, the abstract and the keywords should appear in the original language, along with the version in Spanish and English.

Headings

  • The headings of the different sections of the article should be differentiated, by means of, when applicable, a prioritization of sections based on the model proposed:
  • 1. Chapter heading
  • 1.1. Section heading
  • 1.1.1. Subsection heading

Figures and tables

  • The numbers and captions of figures and tables should be attached in a separate file. Their position in the text must be clearly indicated.
  • Figures (jpeg, png, tiff format for photographs; eps, ai, svg or any scalable format for drawings or illustrations), will have a minimum resolution of 300 ppp. Illustrations (prints, drawings or photographs) will be referred to as «Figure» (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2). Charts and tables should be sent in editable text format (doc, docx, rtf), and labelled «Table».
  • Figures and tables will be sent in individualized files indicating the figure/table number and its location in the text.
  • Authors must cite the source of all graphic documentation, of any type, if it is not their own work. The journal shall not be held responsible for any possible infraction of intellectual or commercial property rights.

Style

  • Texts will have a maximum length of 50,000 characters with spaces, including figures and tables, but not the bibliography.
  • The text will be paginated and presented without any formatting or indentation of paragraphs, and with single spacing.
  • Only UNICODE characters must be used, preferably TNR, 12.
  • Direct quotations, in any original language, should be inserted in the text in Roman print, always between double quotation marks. If the quote is longer than three lines, it should be in indented text, without quotation marks.
  • Bold Font should be avoided if possible.
  • Acronyms and abbreviations employed should be those commonly accepted within the discipline in question.
  • Capital letters should be accented, and years of publication with no full stop (e.g. 1980).
  • In numerical date formats, the forward slash (/) should be used to separate day, month and year: 27/02/2012.
  • Words in their original language must be written in italics, without inverted commas: et alii, in situ, on-line.
  • Other editorial standards shall be as indicated in: Royal Spanish Academy, Ortografía de la lengua española. Madrid, Espasa Calpe, 2010.

These corrections will refer, essentially, to printing errors or changes of a grammatical nature.
