Alejandro Magno y los pajes reales: cuatro perspectivas de una conspiración

Pocos episodios en el reinado de Alejandro Magno permiten apreciar de forma tan clara como la conspiración de los pajes la complejidad del período. Como si la realidad macedonia fuese la única implicada en el proceso, las interpretaciones han tendido, por lo general, hacia la eterna disputa entre las etiquetas pro-macedonia y anti-macedonia que tradicionalmente han dominado la historiografía de Alejandro. Frente a esta visión anticuada, en este artículo se analiza la conspiración de los pajes desde cuatro perspectivas diferentes, cada cual centrada en una de las cuatro realidades presentes en este acontecimiento: la macedonia, la aqueménida, la griega y la romana. De este modo, se concluye que la conspiración de los pajes solo se puede entender en su plenitud si se analizan todas sus componentes de forma relacional, es decir, las instituciones macedonias dentro del contexto de orientalización de Alejandro y en el marco de una campaña que estaba legitimada por valores griegos y cuyo legado fue recibido y alterado por Roma.
