El Protocolo como disciplina científica carece de reflexión epistemológica, a pesar de su exponencial desarrollo teórico, lo cual ha potenciado el nacimiento de diversas escuelas de pensamiento cargadas de análisis teleológicos o de préstamos doctrinales desde las Ciencias de la Comunicación o el Derecho. Este trabajo ofrece una teoría propia con la cual dotar al Protocolo de una teoría capaz de explicarlo sin necesidad de recurrir al instrumental de ciencias sociales ya consagradas.

As a scientific discipline, Protocol has not developed an epistemological identity which. Instead, Protocol studies borrow categories and doctrinal instruments from other social sciences like Law or Communications. This paper offers a theory that grants Protocol doctrinal independence.
