The goal of this work is to systematically collect the main reflections on God and religion in Javier Muguerza's work. With this cordial outline of philosophy of religion, it shows the evolution in Muguerza's thought from an analytical philosophy of religion —concerned with clarifying the logical analysis of religious language and the rational dimension of religious belief— to a practical philosophy of religion —focused on the conditions of possibility of the dialogue between believers and non-believers and the joint reflection on shared values such as hope—. Finally, it defends that the Muguerza's contributions in this field are a clear example of philosophy of religion carried out from the respect of the unbelief
