Abstract

In order to reduce the agitation inside the Vila do Porto Harbour, Azores, a modification of the inside ferries berthing was designed. This new solution has the main goal of reducing wave reflection and overtopping, without decreasing too much the usefull ar ea of the harbour dock. The proposed solution is a triangular platform supported on rectangular pillars under which a rubble-mound breakwater was planned in order to reduce the wave reflection. Results of 3D physical model tests and the obtained with two RANS numerical models, IH-2VOF and the FLUENT) are presented in what concerns to pressures on the platform and to obtained reduction of reflection.
