Abstract

Based on the studies conducted in the course Mecánica Aplicada (E17.2) of Electromechanical Engineering at U.N.C.P.B.A (Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires), we propose the development of a software that facilitates the sizing of a mechanical transmission composed of two shafts and two gears. The objective is to size the shafts using various fatigue failure criteria, taking into account different operating factors, and to size and verify the gears through two stress criteria established by AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association). A sequential order calculation method is proposed to conclude with a design that ensures durability, reliability, precision, and minimal costs, understanding that dynamic analysis is inevitable and that the complexity of the design makes a really hard manual execution.
